Improve quality in five critical areas

Join expert-led sessions tackling the most common roofing defects that drive costly claims. Duncan Arrandale, one of our Technical Claims Specialists, will lead five sessions getting to the heart of the most common defects we see on roofs and related critical elements.

Learn how these defects are caused and discover best practice installation tips for underlay, glass reinforced plastic (GRP) chimneys, dormers, abutments and solar panels, demonstrated live on stage with close-up visuals to help you get the detail and the build right first time.

Session 1

Tight underlay and cracked tiles

Roof leaks due to fractures in tiles leading to water penetration through nail fixing holes in underlay is the largest area of claims in pitched roofs. See how to get these right first time.

Session 2

GRP chimneys

This is another high claim area you can avoid if you tackle issues such as incorrect underlay lapping, inadequate drainage paths on underlays below battens and poorly detailed flashing arrangements.

Session 3

Dormers

We’ll show you how to eliminate leaks due to unsupported and inadequate apron flashings and condensation due to lack of vapour control layers.

Session 4

Abutments

Get it right at roof to wall junctions, avoiding problems such as missing soakers, poorly detailed flashing and/or inadequate flashing coverage over tile surfaces.

Session 5

Solar panels

Prevent claims for water entry around solar panel installations and hear best practice for foam filler strips, upstands and flashing channels.
